Getting started — step-by-step
Unbox and verify
Open your package and check tamper-evident seals. Confirm you received a genuine Trezor device and compare packaging with official imagery from trezor.io. Keep packaging and recovery card in a safe place during setup.
Connect to your computer
Use the supplied USB cable to connect your Trezor to a computer you trust. Navigate to trezor.io/start
and follow on-screen prompts to open Trezor Suite or use the web onboarding flow. Do not install random software or follow unsolicited links.
Create a new wallet
Follow the device prompts to create a new wallet. Your Trezor will generate a recovery seed (a series of words). Write the seed only on the supplied recovery card — never store it digitally or photograph it.
Set a PIN
Choose a secure PIN using the on-device keypad. A PIN adds another layer of physical protection in case the device is lost or stolen. Do not share your PIN with anyone.
Confirm and backup your recovery seed
Confirm the recovery phrase by entering or verifying words on the device. Store your recovery card in a secure, offline location — ideally in a fireproof safe or separate geographically from the device.
Install apps and manage accounts
Open Trezor Suite or a compatible wallet to add cryptocurrency accounts. Install only the apps you need and review transaction details on the hardware display before approving any operation.
Regular maintenance
Keep your firmware up to date through official channels. Check signatures and verify downloads at trezor.io. Regularly review your accounts and keep a minimal attack surface by avoiding suspicious browser extensions.
Security by design
Private keys never leave your device. All sensitive confirmations happen on the hardware display, protecting against remote attacks.
Open-source
Firmware and tools are open-source, enabling public review and independent audits for transparency and security.
Wide coin support
Manage dozens of cryptocurrencies and tokens using Trezor Suite and many third-party wallets.
Recovery & redundancy
Create secure backups of your recovery seed and consider advanced options like multi-sig for high-value holdings.
